La Palapa's Alberto Perez

Alberto Perez is not only the owner of La Palapa, but also a talented musician who was born and raised in Puerto Vallarta. Through his life he has experienced first hand the growth and changes that have made Puerto Vallarta a leading international tourist destination.



The youngest of eleven children he spent his youth in and around his brother and sister's restaurants, learning the trade practically by osmosis. His love of music led him to the guitar, and he taught himself to play and sing.

He met his wife, Renee, in Vallarta while she was on vacation from California, where he later joined her for a few years. Marriage, a move back to Puerto Vallarta, and eventually the birth of his three children have given him balance to the hectic restaurant life.

Alberto created his vision of what La Palapa Restaurant could be on a trip to Tahiti, where he saw many of the same natural elements as in his beloved Vallarta. His philosophy stems from his desire for people to have a wonderful dining experience in a naturally beautiful ambiance surrounded by warm, caring smiles.

On Monday and Tuesday nights you can enjoy Alberto's musical talents, as well as fine dining, at La Palapa's beachside restaurant and bar. Alberto's goal is for his guests to be happy and to have a good time!
